Darn that DynDns…

July 9, 2005 | Computers

I guess I really should set up some automatic scripting to renew that dyndns account… not sure yet how long I was down, or if anyone noticed, but now my little corner of the world is back up and running.

That is all.

Full report on the vacation to follow.

  • Why don’t you use ddclient? Hehe, I like that little logo there, I am a statistic. 🙂

  • Why don’t I use it?

    Laziness.

  • I’d definitely suggest ddclient to. I’ve been running it sporadically for a long time now. But the server has it running since about 6 months non stop. On the contrary to DNSUpdate, it does not hang the system, is very reliable and much more tweakable. Also, maybe getting a domain name and using zoneedit’s (www.zoneedit.com) free (up to 5 domains!) DynDns services is good idea!? (or using your own domain name with dyndns subdomains)

    My 2 cents anyways…

  • I didn’t know of ZoneEdit… I might have to do that if its still free and lets me use a domain name.

Thanks for the tip Mr. Smurf.

  • Hm, I just checked my old email and haven’t found that yelling yet…
