Force Internet Explorer BSOD

October 14, 2006 | Computers | 3 Comments

Just ran across a fun little tidbit about Internet Explorer on Windows.

You can force a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) by typing "about:mozilla" in the address bar.

If you’re running XP SP2 that won’t work, you’ll have to do "es://mshtml.dll/about.moz"

Just the thing to torture others in your office.

  • Have you tested that? It has an aroma of urban legend about it to me.

  • My Favorite: using a one-line javascript

Works both on IE6 and IE7.

  • Yeah, Guess I shoulda tested first… my VPC install of XP SP2 didn’t respond. I got a blue screen, but not a BSOD.
